Tessellate Mitts

£5
(Excluding VAT)

Covered with tessellating diamonds, the Tessellate Mitts feature stripes of simple colourwork. Choose either bold contrasting colours or a more subtle combination. These mitts are designed to be knit using 5 mini skeins, but you could also use leftover yarn and as many colours as you’d like.

Sizing

Sizes: 1 (2, 3)
Finished hand circumference: 7 (8, 9)” / 18 (20.5, 23) cm
To measure the circumference of your hand measure your palm horizontally just below your knuckles (at the widest part of your hand), keeping your fingers relaxed.
These mitts are designed to be worn with either zero ease or some positive ease, so if you’re between sizes I would recommend choosing the larger size.
The samples are shown in size 1 on 6.5” / 16.5cm circumference hands.

Yarn

5 colours of fingering weight yarn, for each colour you’ll require:
13 (15, 18.5) grams
60.5 (70, 86) yards
55.5 (64, 79) metres
Label these 5 colours as A, B, C, D, E, ensure each colour contrasts with its two neighbouring colours and that A and E contrast with each other. A schematic is included in the pattern which shows where each of these colours is used in the mitts.
If you’re knitting the largest size ensure you check the yards / metres of your yarn. For some brands a 20 gram mini skein will be enough, but for others you will need more.

Suggested Yarn

Colourful sample: Botanical Yarn Mini Skein Set 03 4-ply (75% Merino, 25% Nylon) - 20 grams / 93 yards / 85 metres per skein.
Grey sample: Down Sheepy Lane Dire Wolf 5 Mini Skein Bundle 4-ply (75% Merino, 25% Nylon) - 20 grams / 93 yards / 85 metres per skein.
Any fingering weight yarn will be suitable if you can get the correct gauge.
