TOFT's Ed's Advent 2019 Week 1

The first week of Ed's Advent is over and I've made some progress on both animals.

At 6am each day of advent you receive an email with a portion of the pattern for each animal and in the first email the names of the animals were revealed. The more beginner-friendly animal is called Elden and the more complex animal is called Estella. I had planned to try and complete both animals throughout December, but to mainly focus on Elden and potentially use weekends to catch up on Estella, this hasn't exactly gone to plan.

Ed's Advent 2019 Week 1 Progress

On day one both animals were started with the cream colour, I worked on Estella first as the email advised, so that the cream yarn could be left live for day two of Elden. I immediately noticed that the portion of the pattern provided for Estella was much larger than the one for Elden, as you would expect with Estella being the more complex animal. I did manage to complete day one, with the beginnings of a leg for Elden and the first portion of Estella's body (the cream area up to the band of grey on the body on the right of the photo), but to be totally honest day 1 was the only day when I kept up. In the photo above the cream body parts all belong to Elden and the partially gold body is Estella. So far I'm up to date with Elden but only up to halfway through day 2 of Estella. I realised pretty early on that I definitely don't have the time to complete Estella at the same time as Elden, I would still like to get her mostly complete by Christmas but I think I'll be doing lots of catching up when I finish work for the Christmas break.

Now looking at the body parts we've got so far not much has been given away, for Elden we've got two legs, a foot and a body. I'm guessing week two will include completing that third leg, plus making a fourth and maybe after that the next stages will start to reveal what Elden is. As for Estella, all I've managed so far is two thirds of a body so she's pretty much a complete mystery too. Have you got any early guesses at to what they might be?
