Unboxing TOFT's Ed's Advent 2019
I've been excited to open the Ed's Advent box all week and it's finally December and time to see what's inside.
As you saw in my previous post, the advent box is wrapped in tissue paper with stickers on each end. After unwrapping this you can see the details on the box, the cogs are metallic gold and the box itself is textured rather than smooth. A magnetic flap wraps across the front of the box, which is a nice design and ensures it stays closed even if you don't put everything back in as neatly as it was when it first arrived.

When the box is opened on the inside of the flap there is a message from Kerry Lord, Founder and Creative Director of TOFT. The message basically explains Ed's Advent to ensure you're ready for the start of the crochet-along. There is also an exclusive iron-on patch, which is a gold feather with #edsadvent2019 across it. The patch isn't something that was advertised to be included and is a surprise bonus item, I think it's a really nice addition to the advent box and its overall theme.

Now onto the yarn, our first clues as to what this year's animals could be. The box contains 100 grams of Cream, 50 grams of Festive Gold, 25 grams of Shale and 25 grams of Silver (all DK yarn). This yarn is enough to make both animals, although all four colours probably won't be used on both of the animals. Cream, Shale and Silver are all standard TOFT colours, with Festive Gold being the new special colour which contains metallic strands of gold. In addition to the yarn there is a small package labelled 'Please don't open me yet', I'm sure in one of the daily emails containing pattern instructions we'll be asked to open this.

Based on the contents of the box I've really not got any guesses as to what either of the two animals will be, I was thinking the colours might narrow it down a bit but I think it has stayed a mystery. With the contents of this box and my 3mm crochet hook I've now got everything needed for the crochet-along to start.
