Knitting a Sincerely Louise Mini Ram Head
At Yarndale 2019 I purchased a Mini Ram Head knitting kit from Sincerely Louise and towards the end of summer I finally got started on it.
Sincerely Louise is a brand well known for their patterns and kits inspired by taxidermy, so when I saw their stand at Yarndale I decided to purchase a kit to try and went for the mini ram head.
I found the pattern easy to follow, you just need to knit all the different pieces and then sew everything together at the end of the project. Whilst knitting the pattern you add scrap yarn where the different elements need to be sewn on, this makes it much easier to position everything correctly. The pattern also includes photos for some steps, which make it even clearer to understand.
I didn't really have any problems with any of the pieces. I found sewing everything together a little bit difficult, but I'm not really the best at sewing things together regardless of the project. The only issue I noticed was that for some reason the ears looked to be more pointed than in the pattern photo. I sewed some scrap yarn into the ends of the ears to use to make them less pointed, which I think worked pretty well.
I'm quite happy with the finished result. This project was actually the first thing I knitted which isn't wearable. I'm not sure if I'd knit another one, just because since purchasing it I've realised I personally don't really enjoy sewing projects together and much prefer knitting things with minimal sewing required. However, I absolutely would recommend it if you've been thinking of purchasing one of these kits, the pattern is very clear and easy to follow, so you shouldn't have any trouble with it.
