Compose Cowl
Inspired by the appearance of brickwork, the Compose Cowl uses mosaic knitting to create a möbius cowl covered with a detailed brick pattern. The cowl can be knit with just two colours, but can also be perfect for using advent yarn, mini skeins or using up scraps of yarn.
Finished Measurements
Circumference: 25” / 63.5 cm
Height: 9” / 23 cm
Yarn
Main colour: Fingering weight yarn (78 grams / 363 yards / 332 metres)
Contrast colour: Fingering weight yarn (78 grams / 363 yards / 332 metres)
Suggested Yarn
Main colour: 1 skein of Beehive Yarns Audrey, colour ‘Raven Red’ (75% SW Merino, 25% Nylon) - 100 grams / 465 yards / 425 metres per skein.
Contrast colour: 24 mini skeins from the Beehive Yarns 2021 Advent Calendar, Audrey base (75% SW Merino, 25% Nylon) - 20 grams / 93 yards / 85 metres per skein.
For the contrast colour you can use a single colour of yarn, or you can use mini skeins like I used for my sample. Alternatively this can be a great project for using up small scraps of yarn. If you’re using multiple contrast colours make sure you read the notes page within the pattern for information to help you work out when to change between colours.
Needles
3.5mm - 16 inch / 40 cm circular (use the needle size needed to achieve gauge).
A second needle of the same size will be needed to finish the cowl. If you don’t have a second 3.5mm needle you could use a smaller size such as 3.25mm or 3mm.
